Description of key information

In 72 h the effective concentration of Propylidynetrimethanol, ethoxylated, which reduces the growth rate of Scenedesmus subspicatus by 50 % (EC50) is > 1.000 mg/L in a test according OECD 201 (Toxicon AB, 1992).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In 72 h the effective concentration of Propylidynetrimethanol, ethoxylated, which reduces the growth rate of Scenedesmus subspicatus CHODAT by 50 % (EC50) is > 100 mg/L in a test according to Directive 92/69/EEC, C.3 which is in most parts equivalent to OECD TG 201 (Bayer Industry Services, 2007). However, there is another study of Perstorp (1992) according to OECD 201 and this study gives a 72 hours-EC50 > 1.000 mg/L. Thus, toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria is given as 72 hours-EC50 > 1.000 mg/L.
