GHS

General Information

Name:
Furfural
Implementation:
EU
Remarks:
ATP 1 (CLP) Implementation date 01 Dec 2010 (Translation of 30th ATP 67/548/EEC). This included classification as Category 3 H331* (Toxic if inhaled). The weight of evidence indicates that for acute inhalation toxicity furfural should be classified in Category 2 as H330. Classification for flammability is also included as the flash point is reported as 60C.
With regard to Acute dermal toxicity classification, the CLH Acut tox 4 is applicable as it is a CLH, although a modern, reliable study is now available, the results from which do not trigger classification under CLP/GHS (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament).
