Description of key information

Testing is not technically feasible as substance is hydrolytically unstable. Therefore, water solubility of the main decomposition product isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is used in CSA.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1 000 000 mg/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Titanium tetraisopropanolate is hydrolytically unstable. When it comes in contact with water or moisture, a complete hydrolysis will take place with no significant reaction products other than isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and hydrated titanium dioxide (key study on hydrolysis OECD 111). As the rapid hydrolysis is the driving force for the fate and pathways of the substance, water solubility of IPA released in water is used as a key value in CSA (see section 9 & 10 of CSR). Value is obtained from peer-reviewed secondary source (Riddick et al. 1986). The non-hazardous degradation product (hydrated titanium dioxide) of the target substance is insoluble in water, and therefore not relevant to be further considered in CSA.
