Description of key information

As this substance is a liquid, the flammability is derived by using flash point and boiling point values.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The key value of flash point (41 ˚C) is determined by using ASTM D-93 method and the boiling point according to OECD 103 (key studies without restrictions). This substance decomposes before boiling (Brekelmans M.J.C 2012).

Based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water are not predicted. According to the supporting study (Klimisch score 1) results of EU method A12, upon contact with water a small amount of gas was evolved, and a white precipitate was formed. There was no ignition observed during any of the tests.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flash point (41 ˚C), this substance is classified as flammable liquid Cat. 3 according to CLP Regulation 1272/2008 and R10 according to Directive 67/548/EEC.
