Description of key information

A weight of evidence approach is applied, based on data for L-aspartic acid, a read across to data for the analogous substances succinic acid, a further read across to results of other aquatic toxicity tests with L-aspartic acid and on QSAR estimations. The resulting EC50,48h is 165 mg/L. The NOEC for Daphnia is 28 mg/L

The EC50,48h determined for L-aspartic acid was 165 mg/L. This is a worst case as no adjustment of the pH was performed. Read across to succinic acid and also QSAR-estimations confirms the low toxicity of L-aspartic acid. The NOEC for Daphnia is 28 mg/L.
