Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Hazard for terrestrial organisms

Hazard for predators

Additional information

Measured ecotoxicity data are not available for the aquatic toxicity endpoints and PNECs have not been derived for freshwater, saltwater, sediment, and soil.

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII and VIII, the acute toxicity tests do not need to be conducted if there are mitigating factors indicating that aquatic toxicity is unlikely to occur. This Category consists of substances which are gas at standard temperature and pressure and is expected to partition primarily to air; therefore aquatic toxicity tests may not be relevant. In addition, it is technically difficult to maintain aqueous concentrations of gases for toxicity testing.

Conclusion on classification

The members of Other Petroleum gases are not classified for environmental hazards.

However, the classification of streams in this category may be impacted by other constituents (see table). The components identified as present in the streams in this category will not alter the proposed classification.

The table below lists the main components of the streams in this category, together with their environmental classifications. Components which are not in this table should be identified by the registrants and the impact of their environmental classification included in the assessment. The classification of each stream can be determined following the equations given in the notes section under the table.

Under the DSD

R50/53 applies if sum of components with R50/53 is >25%.

R51/53 applies if sum of components with R51/53 is >25% or if sum of components with R50/53 is >2.5%.

R52/53 applies if sum of components with R52/53 is >25% or if sum of components with R51/53 is >2.5% or if sum of components with R50/53 is >0.25%.

Under the CLP Regulations

Acute 1 applies if sum of components with acute 1 is >25%.

Chronic 1 applies if sum of components with chronic 1 is >25%.

Chronic 2 applies if sum of components with chronic 1 multiplied by 10 plus the sum of components with chronic 2 is >25%.

Chronic 3 applies if sum of components with chronic 1 multiplied by 100 plus the sum of components with chronic 2 multiplied by 10 plus the sum of components with chronic 3 is >25%.

Chronic 4 applies is sum of components with chronic 1, 2, 3 and 4 is >25%.
