Short-term studies with 2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (trometamol) are available for fish, daphnia and algae. All tests demonstrate low aquatic toxicity, with LC0 values of 4 g/L for trometamol and 10 g/L for a product containing 40% trometamol in fish and LC/EC50 values of >980 mg/L and 397 mg/L for daphnia and algae, respectively, thus the substance is not considered hazardous to aquatic species.
