Description of key information

Water solubilty was determined on two different qualities of the test substance providing very similar results (water solubilty at 20°C: 571 & 561 mg/l)for the high cis and the high trans repsectively). The substance can be classified as "moderately soluble" (100-1000 mg/l).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
561 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

One recommended OECD method guideline was used to determine the Water solubility of the test substance: shake-flask method (OECD 105). The two tests performed gave very similar values for two different qualities of the substance : 0.561 g/L at 20°C for high trans quality with cis/trans : 10/90 and 0.571 g/L at 20°C for high cis quality with cis/trans : 85/15. This indicates that the test substance shoud be classified as "moderatly soluble" (100 -1000 mg/L). We have chosen the worst case value between the ones measured as the key value for chemical safety assessment. The method does not give indication of the isomer responsible of the result. Besides, the change in the ratio cis/trans does not involve any difference in the solubility as the values for the two qualities are very similar.
