Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

2,4-di-tert-butylphenol was evaluated for its acute toxicity towards Daphnia according to OECD-Test Guideline 202, Part I. EC50 (48h) was 0.5 mg/L. The test substance is toxic to aquatic invertebrates upon short-term exposure.

Test method:

In order to investigate the influence of the test item towards Daphnia, the swimming behaviour of the animals was recorded. Under the conditions used for the test, immobilisation of the daphnia was observed at nominal concentrations 0.4 mg/L. Within chemical analysis performed with the test solutions freshly prepared, and after 48 h of incubation, it could be shown, that the concentration of the test item remained within the range of 80% of the nominal concentrations being tested. For this reason, the results of this test are based on the nominal concentrations tested. The following EC-values were calculated on basis of the nominal concentration being tested:

0.4 mg/L1)

0.2 mg/L1)

1.1 mg/L

0.5 mg/L

2.8 mg/L
