A reasonable estimate of BCF (91) can be obtained by estimation from log Kow using the method in the Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment (EC 2003, Part III. Chapter 4, Section, Page 31 - 33). This method predicts reasonably well for the limited BCF data that are available for the silanes and siloxanes category. The chemical safety assessment will investigate whether uncertainty in the predicted BCF value is significant by assessing the effect of using BCFs a factor of ten higher or lower than the predicted BCF.

(3 -chloropropyl)triethoxysilane hydrolyses (half-life 35 h, measured) in contact with water to (3 -chloropropyl)silanetriol and ethanol, therefore,

the bioaccumulation of the parent substance is only relevant for local exposure with continuous input.

The hydrolysis products (3 -chloropropyl)silanetriol and ethanol have low log Kow values (-1.1, predicted, and -0.31, measured, respectively), and thus have low potential for bioaccumulation.
