The boiling point of butenes ranges from -6.9°C to 3.71°C. This range is derived from the members of the butenes category: but-1-ene (CAS 106-98-9), 2-butene (CAS 107-01-7) and 2-methylpropene (CAS 115-11-7).

The data reported are derived from the members of the butenes category and were obtained from the CRC Handbook (Lide 2008). This handbook is peer-reviewed and is considered reliable and suitable for use as a key study for this endpoint. The boiling point of butenes category therefore ranges from -6.9°C to 3.71°C. The data are supported by results from the Merck Handbook (O’Neil 2006), which is a peer reviewed handbook with results of -6.74°C for but-1-ene, 0.3°C to 3.73°C for but-2-ene and -6.9°C for 2-methylpropene.

The boiling point of 2-methylpropene is -6.9°C (Lide 2008). The boiling points of the cis and trans isomers of 2-butene ranged from 0.88°C to 3.71°C at pressure 1013 hPa (Lide 2008). The boiling point of but-1-ene is -6.26°C (Lide 2008). The mean of the boiling point values for the butenes is -2.1°C and this has been used to complete the 'key value for chemical safety assessment'.
