Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2002
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Acceptable, well-documented study report which mets basic scientific principles.
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Screening test according to Grewer and according to company guideline, similar to VDI 2263 sheet 1
Relative self-ignition temperature:
260 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Weak self-heating at 260 °C due to thermal decomposition

Weak self-heating at 260 °C due to thermal decomposition was observed in the Grewer oven screening.

The hot storage test showed weak self-heating of 5 °C (Tmax: 205°C) within 48 min after temperature equalisation (which took 3 hours). Partial decomposition was observed (dark discoloration).

Conclusions:
The test substance shows weak self-heating in the Grewer oven at 260 °C and in the hot storage test at 200 °C. No classification as a self-heating substance class 4.2 of the transport regulations required.
Executive summary:

Self-ignition of the test substance was determined by Grewer oven screening and a hot storage test.. The test substance shows weak self-heating in the Grewer oven at 260 °C and in the hot storage test at 200 °C.
