Description of key information
Biodegradation in water data are available for 3 streams in this Category from proprietary studies (the American Chemistry Council (2004) for the streams 648513-69-9 and 69013-21-4 and Elf Atochem (2000) for 64742 -90-1).
These studies showed a biodegradation range of 7.3% (no timeframe) to 29% after 28 days and therefore none of the streams can be considered readily biodegradable. Data available for these streams will be read across to other category members. Biodegradation in soil data are available for 68476-33-5, which consists of fuel oils with similar carbon ranges to the members of this category. The data show half-life values of 1.7 to >48 weeks depending on the soil type, incubation temperature or the amount of fuel added to the soil.
