Description of key information

The freezing point of 2,4,4-trimethylpentene is less than -50°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-50 °C

Additional information

The study by Shell Research Ltd. (1997) was conducted to a standard guideline and was GLP compliant. The freezing point of 2,4,4-trimethylpentene is reported to be less than -50°C. This result is supported by data from the CRC Handbook (Lide 2008) which gives a melting point of -93.5°C.
