Description of key information

No chronic test on fish is available for dipropylene glycol methyl ether.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is not classified as dangerous for the environment. Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is readily biodegradable and has very low potential for bioaccumulation (log Kow <1). The EC 50s/LC50s - based on acute toxicity data in fish, Daphnia and algae - are higher than 1000 mg/l. Therefore it can be considered as non-hazardous for the environment. According to REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for further investigations. Hence, long-term testing in fish can be waived for dipropylene glycol methyl ether.
