Additional information

Benzyl alcohol is considered to have a low potential for adsorption, since the log Pow of 1.1 is below the cut-off value of 3. In addition, benzyl alcohol is neither ionisable nor surface active. Applying the QSAR estimation PCKOCWIN v1.6.6, the Koc is calculated to be 15.7. The Henry´s Law Constant calculated by EUSES 2.1.1 on the basis of the vapour pressure, molecular weight and water solubility was calculated to be 0.0879 Pa.m3/mol.

Based on the low Koc and the low Henry´s Law Constant, it is assumed that adsorption to sediment and suspended organic matter as well as volatilisation of benzyl alcohol from water are not expected to be important fate processes.
