Description of key information

The vapour pressure of benzyl alcohol is determined to 7 Pa at 20 °C and 12 Pa at 25 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
7 Pa
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

In the study of Apelblat (1984) the vapour pressure of benzyl alcohol is experimentally measured based on an established and documented method in the temperature range of 20 - 45 °C. The experimentally determined value for 20 °C is 7 Pa and is in good accordance with the values quoted by Jordan in the Handbook review from 1954 for the temperature range of 30 - 220 °C.

The vapor pressure of benzyl alcohol is given by the following equation, recommended for the temperature range from 20 °C to 45 °C.

P = 8E+12e(-8126/T) (Excel regression for Apelblat)

The vapor pressure of benzyl alcohol is given by the following equation, recommended for the temperature range from approx. 50 °C to 160 °C.

P = 7E+11e(-7410 *1/T) (Excel regression for Jordan)

Where P is the vapour pressure in [Pa] and T is the temperature in [°K].
