In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the determination of explosiveness (required in section 7.11) does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in benzyl alcohol (refer to REACH Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7.1.11.3).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Council Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP (1272/2008/EC), benzyl alcohol is not classified with respect to explosiveness.
