Description of key information




A waiver is proposed: According to REACh Annex VII / column 2, the study needs only to be conducted if based on structure , surface activity is expected or can be predicted.
Triethylphosphate does not contain chemical groups (such as distinct polar and non-polar parts) indicating that it will have surface-active properties in solution, and it is also not intended to be used as a surfactant.


Therefore testing is deemed unnecessary.

A supporting literature source (Daubert & Danner, 1989) provides a surface tension value of 38,2 mN/m, but test conditions, in particular concentration, are not specified. Therefore it was not assessed as valid, and could not be regarded as key study. Despite the high solubility of the substance (500 g/L), no extrapolation can be made on its surface-active potential, since in the worst case ST could have been measured on pure, which would not be comparable at all with the required concentration of 90% saturation, according to guideline criteria.
