Description of key information
The relationship between high log Kow values and bioaccumulation has been investigated, demonstrating that at log Kow values >6 the risk for bioaccumulation declines (Meylan, WM et al, 1999, Env Tox Chem vol 18, no 4, pp 664-672). Based on the high lg Kow of 11.25 and the absence of exposure to soil organisms it is concluded that the bioaccumulation potential of AKD is low. In addition, the toxicity of AKD is low, and thereby AKD has low potential for secondary poisoning. Therefore the investigation of the toxicity to birds by AKD is considered to be scientifically unjustified.
