Description of key information

The test substance (manganese alumina pink corundum, CAS 68186-99-2) is a pink, odourless powder.


- Melting point: >1000 °C.


- relative density: 4.01.

- Dustiness:


Total dustiness: 55.81 mg/g


MMAD1 = 3.96 µm (28.9 %) , MMAD2 = 23.75 µm (71.1 %)


Geometric standard deviation of MMAD: GSD1 = 1.24, GSD 2 = 5.98.


Fractional deposition in human respiratory tract: Head (ET): 55.8 %, Tracheobronchial (TB): 1.5 %, Pulmonary (PU): 3.6 %

The dissolved concentrations of aluminium and manganese at a 100 mg/l loading after 7 days were below LOD (< 0.01µg/L) for aluminium and 1.48 µg/L for manganese.


The dissolved concentrations of aluminium at a 1 mg/l loading after 7 and 28 days were 0.29 µg/L and 0.42 µg/L, respectively.


The dissolved concentrations of manganese at a 1 mg/l loading after 7 and 28 days were 10.66 µg/L and 8.91 µg/L, respectively.
