Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Two studies were carried out to address the boiling point data requirement. A boiling point study (Milner, J.) was carried out according to the standard method ASTM D2887 and D86. The boiling range distribution of Ethylbenzene, manuf. of, distn. residues, distn. lights. was determined by both ASTM D2887 (GC method) and ASTM D86 (distillation method). The boiling range distribution was determined to be 163 -266C by method ASTM D2887 and 198-245 °C

by method ASTM D86.

A second study (Cheeseman, B. and Goodwin, M. 2010) was carried out according to OECD guideline 103. The average boiling point was determined to be 234.2 °C by DSC.

Based on both studies the boiling point is within the range 163 - 245 °C. It is therefore concluded that the second study is the most relevant study to address this data point.

The average boiling point was determined to be 234.2 °C by DSC.
