Additional information

Several studies are available on the acute toxicity of propan-1 -ol to freshwater and brackish fish with LC50 values > 1000 mg/l. The most reliable study was performed by Brooke et al. (1984). The average of two flow-through tests resulted in an LC50 (96h) of 4555 mg/l for Pimephales promelas (based on measured concentrations). This result is supported by other studies performed under static test conditions (Slooff et al. 1983, Bengtsson et al. 1984, Union Carbide Corporation 1993). The lowest valid LC50 reported for fish is 3200 mg/l (48 hours, Oncorhynchus mykiss, nominal, Slooff et al. 1983).

Furthermore, a prolonged toxicity test of 2 -Propanol (CAS: 67 -63 -0) to fish (performed according to OECD guideline 204 under GLP conditions with 14 days test duration), revealed no effects at 100 mg/l (NOEC > 100 mg/l).
