Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According to REACH Annex VIII, column 2, section 9.3.1 testing for adsorption/desorption was waived. Based on the determined log Pow value of -0.37 at 21 °C the Koc was estimated to be 8.532 (EPI Suite, 2008). An estimated Koc value of 15 is published (SRC HSDB, 1984).
A study equivalent or similar to OECD Guideline 112 (Dissociation Constants in Water) revealed a pKa of 3.35 at 20 °C. If released to soil, nicotinamide is expected to have very high mobility based upon an estimated logKoc. The pKa of nicotinamide indicates that this compound will primarily exist in the anion form in the environment and anions generally do not adsorb more strongly to soils containing organic carbon and clay than their neutral counterparts. If released into water, nicotinamide is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment based upon the estimated Koc.
