Endpoint:
vapour pressure
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the melting point is above 300°C

Description of key information

The study does not need to be conducted because boron carbide is a solid which melts above 300°C.

According to Column 2 of REACH Annex VII (standard information requirements for substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 tonne per year or more) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, a study to determine the vapour pressure does not need to be conducted if the melting point of a substance is above 300°C.

To allow a prediction of PEC in Chesar, a very low fictive vapour pressure is given as key value.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0 Pa
at the temperature of:
25 °C
