Description of key information

The test substance 2-ethylanthraquinone is regarded to be biodegradable but failing the 10-day window.

Additional information

The study conducted by Thus and van der Laan-Straathof (1991), in which the test substance was coated on silica gel, is considered as the key study as this study design reflects to the limited water solubility of the test item. Under these conditions 81% biodegradation with no lag-phase was observed after 28 days, however failing the 10-day window criterion.

On the basis of the results of the study by Thus and van der Laan-Straathof, the substance is considered to bebiodegradable but failing the 10-day window. The substance therefore does not fulfil the P- or vP-criterion according tothe screening criteria given in ECHA Guidance, Chapter R.11, forPBT and vPvBassessment.
