Additional information

Trichloroethylene undergoes reactions with hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere. The half life of trichloroethylene due to this reaction, based on a 12-hr day with a OH radical concentartion of 1.5E6 OH/cm3 is 13.3 days.

Hydrolysis is not expected to be an important removal process for trichloroethylene. Degradation of trichloroethylene in water by hydrolysis is very slow, with half-lives reported in the range from 10.7 months to 1.3 million years.
