Conclusions:
Butyllithium (n-, s-, t-butyllithium) may ignite spontaneously in air and on contact with water / air humidity. Studies to determine the physical-chemical properties, ecotoxicity and animal toxicity cannot be performed by standard methods because of its reactivity and corrosive properties.
Two reports on accidents resulting in death are attached to demonstrate the extreme reactivity of these compounds which requires best measurements for occupational health and safety.
All unnecessary risk has to be avoided.
