For each of the substances, measured data from author and other investigators were quality assessed and then used to develop rate constants for different chemicals. The values used to determine valid rate constancies are based on all valid studies at the time of publication. The photooxidative half lives for 2-methylbutane and n-pentane are 2.3 (Atkinson, 1985) and 3.95 days (Atkinson, 1985) respectively. Structural analysis of the substances indicates that they are not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to the lack of hydrolysable functional groups.
