Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting temperature of 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine was determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to OECD Test Guideline 102 (1995) and EU test method A.1 (2008). The melting behaviour varied with cooling rate and with crystal seeding. Upon rapid cooling to -150 °C a predominantly amorphous solid with a small crystalline fraction melting at about 14 °C was obtained. After slow cooling to -80 °C crystallisation was observed during warming up and was followed by melting at about 8 °C. This behaviour may reflect a varying extent of selective crystallization of one isomer depending on the test conditions. The most distinct melting point was observed at 8 °C (1006 hPa).
