Additional information

Disodium hexafluorosilicate

Results on skin irritation obtained from literature indicate that damage caused on intact skin after application of 4h of tdisodium hexafluorosilicate under occlusion provide reversible irritating effects. If applied for 23h, reversibility is also observed. Reversibility of the lesions was complete by day 7. Irritating effects were measured based on PCI values. For disodium hexafluorosilicate, PCI= 0.04, which corresponds to non irritating. The value of the pH given by the substance seemed not to have any effects on PCI.

Experimental in vitro eye irritation study demonstrated that disodium hexafluorosilicate is not eye irritating.

Experimental results and available and reliable studies published show that disodium hexafluorosilicate is not irritant on in vitro studies.

Dipotassium hexafluorosilicate

As irritating properties should not be attributed to the presence of sodium or potassium ions, dipotassium hexafluorosilicate is not expected to be irritant.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification is proposed since experimental results and data on reliable publications indicate the absence of irritating properties.
