Description of key information

Wavier: substance is inherently biodegradable and direct and indirect exposure of soil is unlikely.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Reliable measured biodegradation studies for o-tert-butylphenol are available for biodegradation in water and included in the dossier. However, no measured biodegradation in soil are available for o-tert-butylphenol.   The key study result for biodegradation in water indicates that the test substance is inherently biodegradable. Additionally, the substance is not to be applied directly to soil and direct and indirect exposure of soil is unlikely. Therefore, as per Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, testing on biodegradation in soil is not necessary.
