Additional information

In a guideline study, the a substance that was predominantly a mixture of triethylene glycol butyl ether and tetraethylene glycol butyl ether was not found to be surface active. This UVCB substance has an identity ("ethanol, 2-butoxy-, manufacture of, by-products from") that overlaps considerably with the one that is the subject of this registration ("Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), α-butyl-ω-hydroxy") such that it can be considered an alternative descriptor. This value can therefore be considered valid for use with this substance. A solution of 1g/l in water produced a surface tension of 61.4mN/m at 20C.
