Three studies were conducted to assess the biotic degradation of 2,6 -di-tert-butylphenol:-

·        inherent biodegradability

·        anaerobic aquatic biodegradation

·        ready biodegradability

From the results of these studies it can be determined that 2,6 -di-tert-butyl phenol does not readily biodegrade, is not inherently biodegradable according to the strict terms and conditions of the OECD Guidelines and is not degradable under anaerobic conditions.
