Description of key information

Only one full chronic value is available from a early life stage. However no NOEC could be derived from that study due to mortality and although this is not considered a repro endpoint it was considered significant. But according to (EU Annex V C., OECD 212) the OECD 212 subchronic test mentioned in the acute toxicity part can also be used as chronic if the logKow of the testsubstance in consideration is < 4, which is the case for MCA. therefore the NOEC from Blok et al., 1985 will be used to serve as keystudy for fish chronic toxicity. Data was used from MCA and SMCA together since in the environment the sodium salt disassociates rapidly due to intrinsic properties (see EU RAR 2005)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater fish:
320 mg/L
