Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The mean density of AZDN is determined to be 1.098 kg/m3, or 1.098 g/cm3 with standard deviation of 0.004 (using the pycnometer method).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.098

Additional information

The determination of the physicochemical properties of AZDN E also known as 2,2-azobis(isobutyronitrile) was investigated which included an investigation to determine its relative density. The result (using the pycnometer method) is calculated to be 1.098. A second study determined the specific gravity of azobis (cyanoisopropyl) (synonym of AZDN) which calculated the density; the result was given as 'specific gravity' at a value of 1.05.
