Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on WoE approach, the melting point of 3-chloropropene is -134.5 °C at normal atmospheric pressure conditions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-134.5 °C

Additional information

Data from six different phys-chem. handbooks have been evaluated. Even though handbook data usually do not give details on the test item or on the methodology used, the available data set is considered robust, since all data indicate a melting point of 3-chloropropene in the range of -136 to -134 °C. The value of -134.5 °C as highlighted above is taken from the following studies, Lide 2008, Weiss 1986, Merck 2001, and Sax 1984.
