Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
A 1000 mg/L aqueous test medium was prepared by the direct addition of tetraacetyl ethylene diamine to ASTM medium. The test medium was sonicated to aid dissolution. The remaining test media were produced by serial dilution of the 1000 mg/L test medium with ASTM medium.
The control treatment was prepared by the addition ofASTM medium only to the test vessels .

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
No immobility of Daphnia magna was observed in any of the test media containing tetraacetyl ethylene diamine. Therefore, the 48 hour EC50 value of tetraacetyl ethylene diamine was observed to be >1000 mg/L (the highest nominal concentration tested) .
The lowest concentration causing 100% immobilisation could not be determined and the highest concentration causing no immobilisation was 1000 mg/L (the highest nominal concentration tested).
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of tetraacetyl ethylene diamine to Daphnia magna was determined at approximately 20°C in a 48 hour static test without renewal of the test media. The study was conducted as a definitive test, with nominal concentrations of 63, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/L.

No immobility of Daphnia magna was observed in any of the test media containing tetraacetyl ethylene diamine. Therefore, the 48 hour EC50 value of tetraacetyl ethylene diamine was observed to be >1000 mg/L (the highest nominal concentration tested). The lowest concentration causing 100% immobilisation could not be determined and the highest concentration causing no immobilisation was 1000 mg/L (the highest nominal concentration tested) .
