Description of key information

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted as the chemical safety assessment indicates that this is not necessary.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no long-term test data for invertebrates. Testing is not considered necessary because:

  • Short-term toxicity to aquatic organisms is low.
  • Risk characterisation ratios based on PNECaquaticcalculated using the short-term data are <1.
  • The parent substance citric acid is naturally occurring in aquatic organisms and so is the counter ion.
In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the requirement for long-term toxicity data for aquatic invertebrates (required in Section 9.1.5) is waived on the grounds that the chemical safety assessment, conducted according to Annex I, indicates that it is not necessary.
