Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Three studies investigating the biodegradability of 1,2,3-Propanetriol, homopolymer (CAS 25618-55-7) are available. The key study were conducted according to OECD guideline 301B and GLP using non-adapted, domestic activated sludge as inoculum (BASF 2017). A test substance concentration of 20 mg/L as TOC was applied. Based on C02 evolution biodegradation of 70-80% after 28 days and 80-90% after 60 days were measured. The 10d-window was not passed; however, since the test substance is a UVCB substance composed of different homologues sequential degradation can be assumed and thus the 10d-window should not be applied. Hence, the test substance is considered to be readily biodegradable.

Further supporting studies and QSAR calculations support the assumption of ready biodegradability, even if the pass level for ready biodegradability could not be reached in a ready biodegradability test performed according to OECD guideline 301D (BASF 1990).
