Description of key information

The methanol component of the test substance has a half-life of 17.2 days via indirect photolysis.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
17.2 d

Additional information

Hydroxyl-radical mediated photodegradation in air was calculated for sodium methanolate using the AOPWIN program (version 1.91). The half-life by indirect photolysis was calculated to be approximately 19 days (study director 2005a). The relevant species that would be expected to occur in the air compartment would, however, be methanol for which a half life of about 17 to 18 days was reported (Atkinson, 1989).
