It could be shown that the decomposition of acetaldehye was linearly dependent on the time when the concentration of the test solution was high enough. In this case, the absorption of light was complete during the illumination, which was not the case in the more diluted test solutions. During the illumination period of three hours, the test soluions remained clear and no formation of gas was observed. A small amount of acid was formed, not exceeding 5% in any of the test solution. The identity of any other degradation products is not mentioned.
