Results and discussion

Results:
Concentration of TBEP ranged from 25 to 483 ng/g adipose tissue (individual values).
1983: TBEP mean concentration: 4.0 - 26.8 ng/g (4/16 samples)
1986: TBEP found in 21/68 male and 20/47 female samples
1989: TBEP overall mean concentration (41 samples): 11.3 ng/g (male=6.3; female=16.6 ng/g).
Ottawa: mean 15.8 ng/g (male+female); 28.6 ng/g (female); 7.9 ng/g (male)
Kingston: mean 6.6 ng/g (male+female); 8.7 ng/g (female); 3.6 ng/g (male)

Any other information on results incl. tables

TBEP was only detected in 3/6Ontario municipalities.

In Lebel & Williams (1983) 4 of 16 human adipose tissue samples were found to contain TBEP at levels of between 4.0 and 26.8 µg/kg.

In a later similar study (Lebel & Williams, 1986) of 115 samples obtained at autopsy from Kingston (58) and Ottawa (57), TBEP was found in 21/68 male samples and 20/47 female samples.

The mean concentrations of TBEP in Ottawa were 2.5 -times those found in the Kingston samples. In both cities the TBEP level in females was 2-3-times that of the male samples.

The mean TBEP concentration in the 41 samples was 11.3 micrograms/kg (male=6.3; female=16.6 micrograms/kg).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Absorbed TBEP is distributed through the body and is present at low concentrations in adipose tissue.
