Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

  • 72h-ErC50 = 61 mg/L (growth rate)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
61 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:

Additional information

One valid key study is available to assess the toxicity of TBEP to aquatic algae. In this 72 -hour acute toxicity study, the cultures of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata {61.81 SAG} were exposed to TBEP at nominal concentrations of 0.32, 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg/L under static conditions in accordance with the OECD TG 201 and the EU Method C.3. The 72h-NOEC and 72h-EC50 values based on growth rate were 7.6 and 61 (95%IC: 59 -62) mg/L, respectively. The % growth inhibition in the treated algal culture as compared to the control ranged from 0.1% to 75% (over the period day 0 to day 3). At the end of the test, no abnormalities were noted on algal cells between algae growing in the medium at a nominal concentration of 32 mg/L and algae from the control group. There were no compound related phytotoxic effects.
