2 -Ethylhexyl chloroformate is rapidly hydrolysed to 2-ethylhexanol, HCl and CO2. The hydrolysis product 2-ethylhexanol is readily biodegradable (BASF AG, 1989; NITE, 2008). Regarding the hydrolysis products HCl and CO2, biodegradation is not applicable due to the inorganic character of these molecules.
