Description of key information

Based on the log Pow of 1.43 a low bioaccumulation potential of chloroethane (CAS 75-00-3) is anticipated.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Experimental data investigating the bioaccumulation potential of chloroethane (CAS 75-00-3) are not available. The substance is characterised by a log Pow of 1.43 indicating a low potential to accumulate in biota. Based on the log Pow of the substance a BCF of 4.08 L/Kg was estimated using the BCFBAF v3.01 program (Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ for Microsoft® Windows v 4.10., US EPA). Assuming biotransformation a BCF/BAF value of 3.43 L/Kg was estimated (BCFBAF v3.01, Arnot-Gobas, including biotransformation, upper trophic).

Thus, bioaccumulation of the substance is considered unlikely.
