Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

The substance is corrosive and no study in then required for this end-point. However, as study has already been conducted according to Buhler method (OECD Guideline 406). Application of the substance during this study led to mild to strong skin reactions which confirms the need for waiving any further test. . No skin reactions were noted at the challenge sites of the test or untreated control group animals at the 24 or 48-hour observations. Arsenic acid produced a 0% (0/20) sensitisation rate and was considered to be a nonsensitiser to guinea pig skin. Positive control exhibited evidence of sensitisation, thus confirming the susceptibility of this group of animals to dermal sensitisation.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
As the substance is corrosive, no study should be required for this end-point.A Buehler closed patch study conducted similarly to OECD Guideline 406 and in compliance with GLP has been conducted and led to negative results but has been classified as unreliable.
