Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 96hr-acute toxicity of Arsenic acid to Oncorhynchus mykiss was studied. Fishes were exposed to control, and test chemical at measured concentrations of 0 (control), 13, 24, 39, 65 and 110 mg a.i/L. Mortality and biological and physical effects were observed. The 96hr- LC50 was 28 mg/L, based on the measured concentrations. This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies with the guidelines requirements for an acute toxicity study with freshwater invertebrates.

Additional information

Other data on Fish toxicity are available:

The 96hr-acute toxicity of Arsenic acid toOncorhynchus mykissalevins and juveniles was studied. Fishes were exposed to control and at a series of 6 to 10 test solution concentrations. Mortality and abnormal behavioural responses were observed. The 96hr- LC50 for alevins and juveniles were >360 and 67.5 mg/L respectively, based on the nominal concentrations. This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies with the guidelines requirements for an acute toxicity study with freshwater invertebrates.

Eisler reviewed the available data in 1997. The presented acute toxicity data of As5+on fish are the following:

Goldfish Carassius auratus:

- LC50(7 days) = 24.6 to 41.6 mg/L

- 15 % behavioural impairment in 24h; 30 % impairment in 48 h : 0.1 mg/l

Pimephales pomelas

LC50 (96h ) = 25.6 mg/L
