Description of key information

Two studies are reported for ecotoxicity of algae, using Selenastrum capricornutum (now Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) and Scenedesmus subspicatus (now Desmodesmus subspicatus).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
976 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
976 mg/L

Additional information

Both studies were conducted to recognised guidelines and GLP. The study selected as key had more tested levels, a longer duration and used a more specific method of analysis. Both studies support a conclusion of low toxicity to algae
