First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from exposure and keep patient at rest. seek
immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide should be
used.

Product arising from burning: The substance will burn, emitting toxic fumes of nitrogen
oxides, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Protective equipment: Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus
and fire protection suit.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of a large spillage, workers will wear an air
suit, rubber gloves and rubber boots and carefully collect
up the solid and transfer it to a sealed container. Any
powder remaining will be wiped up with a damp cloth, which
will be placed in a container for disposal.


In the event of a small spillage, workers will wear a
laboratory coat, eye protection, rubber gloves and if the
spillage occurs outside a fume cupboard, a dust respirator
to FFP2S protection. The solid will be collected carefully
and transferred to a sealed container. Any powder remaining
will be wiped up with a damp cloth, which will be placed in
a container for disposal.


Waste substance and contaminated cloths will be disposed of
by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be handled in closed containers where
possible, otherwise use appropriate local exhaust
ventilation. Dust generation should be avoided and local
exhaust ventilation should be in place.


Workers will wear coveralls, rubber gloves and rubber boots.
In the event that dust generation is not adequately
controlled by local exhaust ventilation, workers will also
wear an air suit or a PVC suit and air hood.

Storage: The substance should be stored at ambient temperature.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The test substance will be packaged in sealed anti-static
polyethylene bags, inside a further sealed bag contained in
a fibreboard drum. The net weight of each drum's contents
will not exceed 25 kg.

containers and maintained in an upright position.

Chemical reaction with water: None

Dust explosion: The test substance is an organic dust. Most such powders
have the capacity to form potentially explosive dusts when
subject to mechanical processes. Adequate plant controls
should be put in place, and account taken of this risk
during handling. Plant controls should include the
following precautions:

a) handle the substance in a fully enclosed plant where
possible;

b) control sources of ignition;

c) maintain high standards of housekeeping to prevent
formation of dust deposits;

d) take account of the risk in plant design; and

e) maintain the plant in a leak-tight condition.

Provided these precautions are followed, the substance is of
no immediate concern in relation to physico-chemical hazard
at current levels of supply.
